Nikki offers person centred
therapy for groups or one to one sessions.
Nikki is a trained counsellor, working within the British
Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists guidelines
(BACP).
She works to the highest professional standards and
with intent to help people in pain and confusion.
Person Centred Counselling works on the basis that the
client knows best, as it is the client that is hurting.
What is person centred therapy?
Person-centered therapy is used to help a person achieve personal growth and or come to terms with a specific event or problem they are having. PCT is based on the principle of talking therapy and is a non-directive approach. The therapist encourages the patient to express their feelings and does not suggest how the person might wish to change, but by listening and then mirroring back what the patient reveals to them, helps them to explore and understand their feelings for themselves. The patient is then able to decide what kind of changes they would like to make and can achieve personal growth.
It is the counsellors' goal within the relationship to help the client empower his/herself, through providing the right conditions to grow and help the client move beyond confusion and gradually experience more closely his/her deepest feelings and values.
Who can benefit from person centred counselling?
It is my opinion that clients who have the most to gain from this therapy are those who are strongly motivated to face their painful feelings and who are deeply committed to change.
Person Centred Counselling has proved its effectiveness with clients of many kinds presenting a wide range of difficulties and concerns.
